Who is David Corenswet? Meet DC's new Superman
The actor has starred in projects like 'Hollywood', 'The Politician' and 'Look Both Ways'.
It's official: The DC Universe officially has a new Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
On Tuesday, the news broke that David Korenswet will take James Gunn's role as the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman: Legacy , which will introduce a new slate at DC, courtesy of Gunn and Peter Safra.
"Legacy" is one of the studio's plans to tell the story of the film's co-headliners, Chapter 1: Gods and Giants. Other titles include Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and The Authority.
According to Gunn, the film follows Clark Kent/Superman Corenswet as he learns to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas, with the help of his parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. Corenswet will star alongside Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025, and filming will begin in early 2024. While Gun finds Lois and Clark, casting is underway for other Superman characters, including Lex Luthor and the anticipated superhero The Authority. to appear in the film before finally becoming himself.

Who is David Corenswet?
Corensvet graduated from Julliard in 2016 and guest starred on House of Cards in 2018. The actor was born and raised in Philadelphia. His father worked as a stage actor for many years before joining his wife as a lawyer. As a child actor, Corenswet appeared in numerous theater productions including Arthur Miller's All My Sons, Macbeth, La Vie En Bleu and Forgiving Harvest.

Before House of Cards, Corenswet had divisions in Primer, State, and Instinct. In 2019, he starred in Ryan Murphy's The Politician, followed by another role in the 2020 Hollywood series. The former tells the story of Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), a high school senior who takes every step of his life to become the President of the United States. Set in post-World War II Hollywood Los Angeles and tells the story of Corenswet, a successful gigolo at a gas station hoping to catapult Jack Costello to superstardom.
The actor recently had a recurring role on HBO's We Own This Town and starred in Netflix's Two Ways and A24 Pearl. Superman: Legacy marks Corenswet's major studio film debut. Upcoming projects include FX's The Answers, Searchlight's Greatest Hits, AppleTV + Lady on the Lake with Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment's Twisters.
How did you get the role of Superman?
Corenswet auditioned for the role of Man of Steel on the weekend of June 17 in a Superman costume and regular clothes. Before the final episode went to Broshan, he was paired up with Emma Mackie, a strong contender for Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult and Tom Britney also tested for Kal-El.
In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said he wanted to portray the iconic superhero at some point in his career. "My pie-in-the-sky wish, of course, is to play Superman," Corenswet told the publication. "I'd like to see someone drop [Take Superman]. "I like Henry Cavill to be dark and brooding, but I want the next one to be bright and optimistic."
