Lana Del Rey left fans confused when she was spotted working a shift at a Waffle House in Florence, Alabama on Thursday.

Photos circulating on social media show the "Blue Jean" singer brewing coffee behind a Waffle House counter wearing a Waffle House uniform and a "Lana" name tag.

Del Rey also took a photo with a fan while at a restaurant in Alabama.

Local Carina Cisneros Juarez detailed her encounter with Del Rey to local media outlet AL.com.

"It was a little surreal," Juarez said.

It is still unclear why Del Rey was at the Waffle House, and fans are speculating about various possibilities.

On fan forums, some speculated that she was filming a music video, while others suggested that it was a move to promote an upcoming song. Others jokingly suggested he might be exploring new career paths.

In recent days, Del Rey has been spotted in many other unlikely places in Alabama, including downtown Florence and a Birmingham nail salon.

AL.com reported that he will not be in Alabama to work on new music. Local recording venues FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound both told the media that he had not recorded with them.

The visit may be related to a song on his new album, "Did You Know There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd."
