Tom Cruise gave The Flash the thumbs up, the superstar's seal of approval boosting the filmmakers' confidence
In an interview with GamesRadar, Andy Muschietti shared his excitement about Cruise's reaction
The much anticipated DC superhero movie 'Lightning Up' has been directed by none other than Hollywood icon Tom Cruise. After a special advanced screening of the film, Cruise reached out to director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti, praising them and giving the entire team the "boost of confidence" they needed.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Andy Muschietti shared his excitement about Cruise's reaction, saying, "We're more confident in what we're doing because the movie was finished when [Cruise] saw it, so that's one thing."
Barbara Muschietti echoed that sentiment, saying it's rare to get sincere praise from someone who has no interest in the project. "It feels great because we worked so hard to make this movie," he said.
In addition to Cruise's approval, Cruise officials chose to respect the premise of director Zack Snyder and work on 'Man of Steel'. Andy Muschietti reached out to Snyder not for technical or narrative advice, but to show respect for the universe he had created. He wanted to assure Snyder that they would treat the source material with respect and care. Muschietti explained, “Man of Steel is central to this movie because the threat of Zod coming to Earth is a huge change in the story and something that DC fans are very excited about.
With the film releasing on June 16, positive reviews from industry veterans like Tom Cruise have added to the anticipation and excitement surrounding 'Lightning'.
Fans can now witness the culmination of the filmmakers' hard work and passion as they bring these iconic DC superheroes to the big screen in a way that honors the source material and entertains audiences around the world.
